Topological Vector Spaces, chapter III, § 4. The Banach-Steinhaus theorem

— Let E be the Banach space (over C\mathbf{C}) consisting of continuous complex functions with period 1 in R\mathbf{R}, with the norm ∥f∥=sup⁡x∣f(x)∣\|f\| = \sup_x |f(x)|.

For every integer n∈Zn \in \mathbf{Z} and every function f∈Ef \in E, let cn(f)=∫01f(x)e−2iπnxdxc_n(f) = \int_0^1 f(x) e^{-2i\pi nx} dx (nn-th Fourier coefficient of ff) ; each of the mappings f↦cn(f)f \mapsto c_n(f) is a continuous linear form on E. Let (αn)(\alpha_n) be a sequence of complex numbers such that, for every function f∈Ef \in E, the serie with the general term αncn(f)+α−nc−n(f)\alpha_n c_n(f) + \alpha_{-n} c_{-n}(f) is convergent. Under these conditions, the mapping u:f↦α0c0(f)+∑n≥1[αncn(f)+α−nc−n(f)]u : f \mapsto \alpha_0 c_0(f) + \sum_{n \geq 1} [\alpha_n c_n(f) + \alpha_{-n} c_{-n}(f)] is a continuous linear form on E ; \* in other words, there exists a measure μ\mu on [0,1][0, 1] such that u(f)=∫f(x)dμ(x)u(f) = \int f(x) d\mu(x) for every function f∈Ef \in E, and αn\alpha_n is the nn-th Fourier coefficient of μ\mu.* In fact, for every integer m>0m > 0, the mapping f↦∑k=−mmαkck(f)f \mapsto \sum_{k = -m}^m \alpha_k c_k(f) is a continuous linear form umu_m on E, and for all f∈Ef \in E, the sequence (um(f))(u_m(f)) converges to u(f)u(f), by hypothesis. The assertion then follows from Banach-Steinhaus theorem, since E is barrelled.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
