Topological Vector Spaces, chapter IV, § 2. Bidual. Reflexive spaces

— Let EE be a locally convex space and Eb′E'_b its strong dual. The dual of the locally convex space Eb′E'_b is called the bidual of EE and is denoted by E′′E''.

For every x∈Ex \in E, let x~\tilde{x} be the linear form x′↦⟨x,x′⟩x' \mapsto \langle x, x' \rangle on E′E'; it is continuous for the weak topology σ(E′,E)\sigma(E', E), hence a fortiori, for the strong topology on E′E'; therefore x~∈E′′\tilde{x} \in E'' for all x∈Ex \in E. The map cE:x↦x~c_E : x \mapsto \tilde{x} from EE into E′′E'' is a linear mapping, said to be canonical.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
