Topological Vector Spaces, V, p. 35, § 3. Tensor product of hilbertian spaces

Let E be a hilbertian space. We have

∥x∧u∥≤∥x∥⋅∥u∥ \| x \wedge u \| \leq \| x \| \cdot \| u \|

for x∈Ex \in E and u∈Λ^(E)u \in \hat{\Lambda}(E).

It is clearly enough to consider the case ∥x∥=1\| x \| = 1.

Let F be the hilbertian subspace of E consisting of all vectors orthogonal to x. Since E is the hilbertian sum of F and the line K.x, it follows from the corollary of V, p. 34 that the mapping (v,w)↦v+x∧w(v, w) \mapsto v + x \wedge w is a hilbertian space isomorphism from Λ^(F)⊕Λ^(F)\hat{\Lambda}(F) \oplus \hat{\Lambda}(F) onto Λ^(E)\hat{\Lambda}(E). If u=v+x∧wu = v + x \wedge w with v,wv, w in Λ^(F)\hat{\Lambda}(F), we have x∧u=x∧vx \wedge u = x \wedge v, hence ∥x∧u∥=∥v∥≤(∥v∥2+∥w∥2)1/2=∥u∥\| x \wedge u \| = \| v \| \leq (\| v \|^2 + \| w \|^2)^{1/2} = \| u \|.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
