Functions of a Real Variable, chapter V, § 1. COMPARISON OF FUNCTIONS ON A FILTERED SET

Given two functions f,gf, g of H(F,V)\mathscr{H}(\mathfrak{F}, V) one says that ff and gg are equivalent (along F\mathfrak{F}), and writes f∼gf \sim g, if f−g≪ff - g \ll f.

The relation f∼gf \sim g implies f≍gf \asymp g but is not equivalent to it.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
