Functions of a Real Variable, chapter V, § 1. COMPARISON OF FUNCTIONS ON A FILTERED SET

Let gg be a function in H(F,R)\mathscr{H}(\mathfrak{F}, \mathbf{R}), strictly positive on a set in F\mathfrak{F}, and such that lim⁡Fg=0\lim_{\mathfrak{F}} g = 0 or lim⁡Fg=+∞\lim_{\mathfrak{F}} g = +\infty. One says that a function f∈H(F,R)f \in \mathscr{H}(\mathfrak{F}, \mathbf{R}) is of order ρ\rho (finite or infinite) relative to gg if lim⁡Flog⁡(∣f∣)/log⁡g=ρ\lim_{\mathfrak{F}} \log(|f|)/\log g = \rho.

Note that if ff is of order ρ\rho relative to gg then ff is of order −ρ-\rho relative to 1/g1/g; one therefore need treat only the case where g(x)g(x) tends to +∞+\infty along F\mathfrak{F}.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
