Functions of a Real Variable, chapter V, § 3. ASYMPTOTIC EXPANSIONS OF FUNCTIONS OF A REAL VARIABLE

The restriction on gg in prop. 7 is essential. For example, one has 1x≪1+1x\frac{1}{x} \ll 1 + \frac{1}{x} even though the derivatives of the two sides are equivalent; similarly 1+1x∼1+1x21 + \frac{1}{x} \sim 1 + \frac{1}{x^2}, but 1/x2≫2/x31/x^2 \gg 2/x^3.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
