Integration, III, p. 25, § 2. Support of a measure

If μ\mu is a measure on a locally compact space XX, one defines the support of μ\mu, denoted Supp⁡(μ)\operatorname{Supp}(\mu), to be the closed set complementary to the largest of the open sets in XX on which the restriction of μ\mu is zero.

To say that a point x∈Xx \in X does not belong to the support of μ\mu means that there exists an open neighborhood VV of xx such that the restriction of μ\mu to VV is zero; to say that xx belongs to the support of μ\mu therefore means that for every neighborhood VV of xx, there exists a function f∈K(X;C)f \in \mathscr{K}(X; \mathbf{C}), whose support is contained in VV, such that μ(f)≠0\mu(f) \neq 0.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
