Integration, IV, p. 31, § 3. LP spaces

Th. 6 no longer holds if the hypothesis ∣fn∣≤g|f_n| \leq g (with Np(g)<+∞N_p(g) < +\infty) is replaced by the weaker hypothesis sup⁡nNp(fn)<+∞\sup_n N_p(f_n) < +\infty. Suppose, for example, that μ\mu is Lebesgue measure on R\mathbf{R}; define continuous functions fnf_n in the following manner: fn(x)=0f_n(x) = 0 for x≤0x \leq 0 and for x≥2nx \geq \frac{2}{n}, fn(1n)=nf_n(\frac{1}{n}) = n, fnf_n being linear on the intervals [0,1n][0, \frac{1}{n}] and [1n,2n][\frac{1}{n}, \frac{2}{n}]. Then lim⁡n→∞fn(x)=0\lim_{n \to \infty} f_n(x) = 0 for all x∈Rx \in \mathbf{R}, but N1(fn)=1N_1(f_n) = 1 for every nn (cf. §5, Exer. 12).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
