Integration, IV, p. 67, § 5. Measurable functions and sets

Let ff be a measurable mapping of XX into a Banach space FF; for every compact set K⊂XK \subset X, there exists a sequence (gn)(g_n) of measurable step functions, with supports contained in KK, such that ∣gn(x)∣≤∣f(x)∣|g_n(x)| \leq |f(x)| for all x∈Xx \in X and such that gn(x)g_n(x) tends to f(x)f(x) for almost every x∈Kx \in K.

With notations as in the proof of Th. 3, and denoting by aija_{ij} one of the values of ff in AijA_{ij}, it suffices to take, as the value of gng_n in AijA_{ij}, the point 0 if ∣aij∣≤1/n|a_{ij}| \leq 1/n and the point aij(1−1/(n∣aij∣))a_{ij}(1 - 1/(n|a_{ij}|)) otherwise; finally, set gn(x)=0g_n(x) = 0 on the complement of the union of the AijA_{ij} (1≤i≤n, 1≤j≤qi1 \leq i \leq n,\ 1 \leq j \leq q_i).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
