Every separable subspace GG of the Banach space L∞(T,μ)L^\infty(T, \mu) has the lifting property.

By the hypothesis, there exists a countable dense subset HH of GG that is a linear subspace with respect to the field Q\mathbf{Q} of rational numbers; let (hn)(h_n) be a (countable) basis of HH over Q\mathbf{Q}. For every integer nn, let hn′h'_n be an element of L∞\mathscr{L}^\infty such that π(hn′)=hn\pi(h'_n) = h_n, and let ρ′\rho' be the Q\mathbf{Q}-linear mapping of HH into L∞\mathscr{L}^\infty defined by ρ′(hn)=hn′\rho'(h_n) = h'_n; it is clear that π∘ρ′\pi \circ \rho' is the identity on HH. Moreover, for every h∈Hh \in H one has ∣ρ′(h)(t)∣≤N∞(h)|\rho'(h)(t)| \leq N_\infty(h) except at the points tt of a locally negligible set A(h)A(h). Let AA be the union of the A(h)A(h) for h∈Hh \in H, which is also locally negligible. For every h∈Hh \in H, denote by ρ(h)\rho(h) the function h′′∈L∞h'' \in \mathscr{L}^\infty such that h′′(t)=ρ′(h)(t)h''(t) = \rho'(h)(t) if t∉At \notin A, and h′′(t)=0h''(t) = 0 if t∈At \in A. It is clear that ρ\rho is a Q\mathbf{Q}-linear mapping of HH into the subspace B\mathscr{B} of bounded functions in L∞\mathscr{L}^\infty, such that π∘ρ\pi \circ \rho is the identity on HH and such that ∣ρ(h)(t)∣≤N∞(h)|\rho(h)(t)| \leq N_\infty(h) for all h∈Hh \in H and t∈Tt \in T. Since B\mathscr{B} is a Banach space for the norm ∥f∥=sup⁡t∈T∣f(t)∣\|f\| = \sup_{t \in T} |f(t)| (Ch. IV, §5, No. 4, Th. 2), ρ\rho may be extended to a continuous R\mathbf{R}-linear mapping, again denoted ρ\rho, of GG into B\mathscr{B}, which is obviously a lifting of GG.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
