Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter I, § 1. Definition of Lie algebras

Let g be a Lie algebra and a an ideal of g. For the Lie algebra g/ag/a to be commutative, it is necessary and sufficient that a⊃Dga \supset \mathscr{D}g.

To say that g/ag/a is commutative amounts to saying that D(g/a)={0}\mathscr{D}(g/a) = \{0\}. But D(g/a)\mathscr{D}(g/a) is, by Proposition 4, the canonical image of Dg\mathscr{D}g in g/ag/a.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
