Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter I, § 4. Nilpotent Lie algebras

Let VV be a vector space of finite dimension nn over KK and gg a Lie sub-algebra of gl(V)gl(V) whose elements are nilpotent endomorphisms of VV. Then there exists a decreasing sequence of vector subspaces V0,V1,…,VnV_0, V_1, \ldots, V_n of VV, of dimensions n,n−1,…,0n, n-1, \ldots, 0, such that x(Vi)⊂Vi+1x(V_i) \subset V_{i+1} for all x∈gx \in g and i=0,1,…,n−1i = 0, 1, \ldots, n-1.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
