Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter III, § 6. Real and complex Lie groups

If v∈L(E)v \in \mathscr{L}(E), then Sp σ(v)⊂Sp v+Sp v+⋯+Sp v\mathrm{Sp}\,\sigma(v) \subset \mathrm{Sp}\,v + \mathrm{Sp}\,v + \cdots + \mathrm{Sp}\,v, where the sum comprises n+1n+1 terms.

We define elements v0,v1,…,vnv_0, v_1, \ldots, v_n of L(F)\mathscr{L}(F) by writing, for all f∈Ff \in F,

(v0f)(x1,…,xn)=v(f(x1,…,xn))(vif)(x1,…,vn)=−f(x1,…,vxi,…,xn)for 1≤i≤n. \begin{align*} (v_0f)(x_1, \ldots, x_n) &= v(f(x_1, \ldots, x_n)) \\ (v_if)(x_1, \ldots, v_n) &= -f(x_1, \ldots, vx_i, \ldots, x_n) \quad \text{for } 1 \leq i \leq n. \end{align*}

Then σ(v)=∑i=0nvi\sigma(v) = \sum_{i=0}^n v_i and the viv_i are pairwise permutable. Let A be the total closed subalgebra of L(F)\mathscr{L}(F) generated by the viv_i; it is commutative (Spectral Theories, Chapter I, § 1, no. 4) and SpL(F)v′=SpAv′⊂∑i=0nSp vi\mathrm{Sp}_{\mathscr{L}(F)} v' = \mathrm{Sp}_A v' \subset \sum_{i=0}^n \mathrm{Sp}\,v_i (Spectral Theories, Chapter I, § 3, Proposition 3 (ii)). Now, if λ∈C\lambda \in \mathbf{C} is such that v−λv - \lambda is invertible, clearly the vi−λiv_i - \lambda_i are invertible and hence Sp vi⊂Sp v\mathrm{Sp}\,v_i \subset \mathrm{Sp}\,v for all ii.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
