Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter III, § 8. Lie groups over R or Qp

Let G′G' be a locally compact group, GG a finite-dimensional Lie group over R\mathbf{R} (resp. Qp\mathbf{Q}_p) and ff a continuous morphism of G′G' into GG. If the kernel of ff is discrete, G′G' is a finite-dimensional real (resp. pp-adic) Lie group.

There exists a compact neighbourhood VV of ee in G′G' such that f∣Vf|V is a homeomorphism of VV onto a compact subspace of GG. If UU is a sufficiently small open neighbourhood of ee in GG, the hypotheses of Theorem 2 are satisfied with H=f(V)∩UH = f(V) \cap U. Hence HH is a Lie subgroup germ of GG. Let WW be the inverse image of HH under f∣Vf|V. Then WW is a neighbourhood of ee in G′G'. Let WW be given the analytic manifold structure transported from that on HH by (f∣W)−1(f|W)^{-1}. For all z∈G′z \in G', the mapping x↦f(z)xf(z)−1x \mapsto f(z)x f(z)^{-1} of GG into GG is analytic; hence there exists an open neighbourhood W′W' of ee in WW such that the mapping x′↦zx′z−1x' \mapsto zx'z^{-1} of W′W' into WW is analytic. By Proposition 18 of § 1, no. 9, there exists on G′G' a Lie group structure which induces on a sufficiently small open neighbourhood of ee the same analytic structure as WW and hence the same topology as the initial topology on G′G'.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
