Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VI, § 1. Root systems

Let CC be a chamber of RR, and let BB be the corresponding basis. If α∈B\alpha \in B, put φ(α)=α−\varphi(\alpha) = \alpha^- if 2α∉R2\alpha \notin R and φ(α)=12α−\varphi(\alpha) = \frac{1}{2}\alpha^- if 2α∈R2\alpha \in R. Then φ(B)\varphi(B) is the basis of R−R^- defined by C−C^-; this follows from the fact that the walls of C−C^- are the Lα−L_{\alpha^-}, for α∈B\alpha \in B.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
