General Topology, chapter I, § 1. Open sets, neighbourhoods, closed sets

If B\mathfrak{B} is a base of the topology of a topological space XX, there is a dense set DD in XX such that Card(D)≤Card(B)\mathrm{Card}(D) \leq \mathrm{Card}(\mathfrak{B}).

We may restrict ourselves to the case in which none of the sets of B\mathfrak{B} is empty (the non-empty sets of B\mathfrak{B} already form a base of the topology of XX). For each U∈BU \in \mathfrak{B}, let xVx_V be a point of UU; it follows from Proposition 3 of no. 3 that the set DD of the points xUx_U is dense in XX, and we have Card(D)≤Card(B)\mathrm{Card}(D) \leq \mathrm{Card}(\mathfrak{B}) (Set Theory, Chapter III, § 3, no. 2, Proposition 3).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
