General Topology, chapter II, § 3. Complete spaces

Let XX be an infinite set, and consider the uniformity of finite partitions on XX (§\S 2, no. 2, Remark 1). Every ultrafilter F\mathfrak{F} on XX is a

Cauchy filter with respect to this uniformity. For if (Ai)(A_i) is a finite partition of XX and

V=⋃i(Ai×Ai) V = \bigcup_i (A_i \times A_i)
the corresponding entourage, then at least one of the AiA_i belongs to F\mathfrak{F} (Chapter I, § 6, no. 4, Corollary to Proposition 5), and AiA_i is V-small. On the other hand, XX is an infinite discrete space, hence is not compact, and consequently there are ultrafilters on XX which do not converge.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
