General Topology, chapter II, § 4. Relations between uniform spaces and compact spaces

Let AA be a compact set in a uniform space XX; then as VV runs through the set of entourages of XX, the sets V(A)V(A) form a fundamental system of neighbourhoods of AA.

Let UU be any open neighbourhood of AA, then B=∁UB = \complement U is closed and does not meet AA; hence, by Proposition 4, there is an entourage VV such that V(A)∩V(B)=∅V(A) \cap V(B) = \varnothing, and therefore V(A)⊂UV(A) \subset U.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
