General Topology, chapter IV, § 5. Real-valued functions

*A family (fi)i∈I(f_i)_{i \in I} of real-valued functions defined on a set XX is said to be uniformly bounded above (resp. uniformly bounded below) in XX, if there exists a finite number aa such that fi(x)≤af_i(x) \leq a [resp. fi(x)≥af_i(x) \geq a] for all x∈Xx \in X and all i∈Ii \in I. The family (fi)(f_i) is said to be uniformly bounded in XX if it is uniformly bounded above and below in XX.

Thus (fi)(f_i) is uniformly bounded above in XX if and only if the upper envelope of this family is bounded above in XX. (fi)(f_i) is uniformly bounded in XX if and only if the upper envelope of the family (∣fi∣)(|f_i|) is bounded above in XX [i.e. if and only if there is a finite real number a≥0a \geq 0 such that ∣fi(x)∣≤a|f_i(x)| \leq a for all x∈Xx \in X and all i∈Ii \in I].

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
