General Topology, chapter X, § 4. Approximation of continuous real-valued functions

Let (Ki)i∈I(K_i)_{i \in I} be a family of compact intervals of R\mathbf{R}, K=∏i∈IKiK = \prod_{i \in I} K_i their product, and let XX be a compact subspace of KK. Then every continuous real-valued function on XX can be uniformly approximated by polynomials in the coordinates xi=prixx_i = \mathrm{pr}_i x.

For if x=(xi)x = (x_i) and y=(yi)y = (y_i) are two distinct points of XX, there is at least one index ii such that xi≠yix_i \neq y_i; hence the family of continuous functions pri\mathrm{pr}_i satisfies the conditions of Theorem 3.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
