General Topology, chapter X, § 4. Approximation of continuous real-valued functions

If XX is a compact subset of the space Cn\mathbf{C}^n, then every continuous mapping (z1,z2,…,zn)→f(z1,z2,…,zn)(z_1, z_2, \ldots, z_n) \to f(z_1, z_2, \ldots, z_n) of XX into a normed space YY over the field C\mathbf{C} can be uniformly approximated by polynomials in the zkz_k and z‾k\overline{z}_k with coefficients in YY.

We shall see later that in general it is not possible to approximate ff uniformly by polynomials (with coefficients in YY) in the variables zkz_k alone, even if Y=CY = \mathbf{C}.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
