Commutative Algebra, chapter VIII, § 1. Dimension de Krull d’un anneau

a) The dimension of the topological space XX is the least upper bound of the dimensions of its irreducible components (II, § 4, No. 1, Def. 2).

b) Let xx be a point of XX. Then dim⁡x(X)≥sup⁡dim⁡x(Xi)\dim_x(X) \geq \sup \dim_x(X_i), where XiX_i runs through the family of irreducible components of XX that contain xx; there is equality if xx has a neighbourhood VV which has only a finite number of irreducible components (which is the case for example if VV is noetherian).

The first assertion is immediate since the chains of irreducible closed subsets of XX are the chains of irreducible closed subsets of the irreducible components of XX (II, § 4, No. 1, Prop. 5). The inequality dim⁡x(X)≥sup⁡idim⁡x(Xi)\dim_x(X) \geq \sup_{i} \dim_x(X_i) follows from Prop. 1, a). Let VV be a neighbourhood of xx which has only a finite number of irreducible components, and let (Vj)j∈J(V_j)_{j \in J} be the family of irreducible components of VV which contain xx. It follows from Prop. 1, b) and c) that one has

dim⁡x(X)=dim⁡x(V)=sup⁡j∈Jdim⁡x(Vj); \dim_x(X) = \dim_x(V) = \sup_{j \in J} \dim_x(V_j);
one concludes by remarking that each of the VjV_j is contained in one of the XiX_i, i∈Jxi \in J_x, and that one therefore has sup⁡j∈Jdim⁡x(Vj)≤sup⁡i∈Jxdim⁡x(Xi)\sup_{j \in J} \dim_x(V_j) \leq \sup_{i \in J_x} \dim_x(X_i).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
