Commutative Algebra, chapter VIII, § 3. Dimension des anneaux noethériens

Let AA be a noetherian ring and nn an integer ⩾0\geqslant 0. Then we have

dim⁡(A[X1,...,Xn])=dim⁡(A)+n. \dim(A[X_1, ..., X_n]) = \dim(A) + n .

Put B=A[X1,...,Xn]B = A[X_1, ..., X_n]. For every prime ideal pp of AA, the ring B⊗Aκ(p)B \otimes_A \kappa(p) is a polynomial ring in nn variables over a field, hence is of dimension nn (§2§ 2, No. 4, Cor. 1 to Theorem 3). By Cor. 2, we have dim⁡(B)⩽dim⁡(A)+n\dim(B) \leqslant \dim(A) + n; the reverse inequality follows from Example 4 of §1§ 1, No. 3.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
