Commutative Algebra, chapter VIII, § 5. Anneaux locaux réguliers

The noetherian local ring AA is said to be regular if one has dim⁡(A)=[mA/mA2:κA]\dim(A) = [\mathfrak{m}_A/\mathfrak{m}_A^2 : \kappa_A]. A system of coordinates of AA is then any family of elements of mA\mathfrak{m}_A whose classes modulo mA2\mathfrak{m}_A^2 form a basis of the κA\kappa_A-vector space mA/mA2\mathfrak{m}_A/\mathfrak{m}_A^2.

A system of coordinates in a regular noetherian local ring AA is therefore a finite family (xi)i∈I(x_i)_{i \in I} generating the ideal mA\mathfrak{m}_A of AA and such that Card(I)=dim⁡(A)\mathrm{Card}(I) = \dim(A). Conversely, if the ideal mA\mathfrak{m}_A of a noetherian local ring AA is generated by dd elements with d≤dim⁡(A)d \leq \dim(A), the ring AA is regular.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
