Commutative Algebra, chapter VIII, § 5. Anneaux locaux réguliers

Let AA be a ring, pp a prime ideal of AA and P∈A[T]P \in A[T] a polynomial of Eisenstein for pp. a) There does not exist a decomposition of the form P=P1P2P = P_1 P_2 where P1P_1 and P2P_2 are two monic polynomials of A[T]A[T] distinct from 1. b) Suppose AA integrally closed, with field of fractions KK. Then PP is irreducible in K[T]K[T].

Let φ\varphi be the canonical homomorphism of AA into the field of fractions kk of A/pA/p and let φ′:A[T]→k[T]\varphi': A[T] \to k[T] be the extension of φ\varphi such that φ′(T)=T\varphi'(T) = T. Suppose that one has P=P1P2P = P_1P_2 where P1P_1 and P2P_2 are two monic polynomials of A[T]A[T] distinct from 1. Then one has Td=φ′(P1)φ′(P2)T^d = \varphi'(P_1)\varphi'(P_2) in k[T]k[T], denoting by dd the degree of PP. If did_i is the degree of PiP_i, one has therefore φ′(Pi)=Tdi\varphi'(P_i) = T^{d_i}, that is to say Pi(T)≡Tdimod  pA[T]P_i(T) \equiv T^{d_i} \mod pA[T], and in particular Pi(0)∈pP_i(0) \in p. But then P(0)=P1(0).P2(0)P(0) = P_1(0).P_2(0) belongs to p2p^2, contrary to the hypotheses. This proves a).

Assertion b) results from a) and prop. 11 of V, § 1, no 3.

Let AA be a noetherian local ring and P1,...,PrP_1, ..., P_r monic polynomials in A[T]A[T], of degree ≥2\geq 2. Let qq be the ideal of A[T1,...,Tr]A[T_1, ..., T_r] generated by P1(T1),...,Pr(Tr)P_1(T_1), ..., P_r(T_r) and let BB be the quotient AA-algebra A[T1,...,Tr]/qA[T_1, ..., T_r]/q. For 1≤i≤r1 \leq i \leq r, let did_i denote the degree of PiP_i, tit_i the class of TiT_i modulo qq, and γi\gamma_i the class of ci=Pi(0)c_i = P_i(0) modulo mA2m_A^2. Suppose that Pi(T)≡Tdimod  mAA[T]P_i(T) \equiv T^{d_i} \mod m_A A[T] for 1≤i≤r1 \leq i \leq r.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
