Commutative Algebra, chapter VIII, § 7. Multiplicités

The integer eq(M)e_q(M) is called the multiplicity of the A-module M relative to the ideal q.

It is also denoted by eqA(M)e_q^A(M) when it is desired to mention the ring A. When A is local with maximal ideal m, one writes e(M)e(M) or eA(M)e^A(M) for em(M)e_m(M) or emA(M)e_m^A(M).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
