Commutative Algebra, chapter IX, § 4. Fermeture intégrale d'un anneau local complet

Let AA be a discrete valuation ring, BB a noetherian local ring, and ρ:A→B\rho : A \to B a local and flat homomorphism. If the ring κA⊗AB\kappa_A \otimes_A B is reduced, then BB is reduced.

Suppose there exists a nonzero nilpotent element xx of BB, and let π\pi be a uniformizer of AA. Since one has πB⊂mB\pi B \subset m_B, the ring BB is separated for the πB\pi B-adic topology. There therefore exist n∈Nn \in \mathbf{N} and y∈By \in B with x=πnyx = \pi^n y and y∉πBy \notin \pi B. Since BB is flat over AA, multiplication by π\pi is injective in BB. The class of yy in B/πBB/\pi B is therefore a nonzero nilpotent element, which contradicts the assumption.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
