Commutative Algebra, chapter X, § 2. Modules et anneaux macaulayens

Let ρ:A→B\rho : A \to B be a homomorphism of Noetherian rings. If BB is a finite AA-algebra and a Macaulay AA-module, it is a Macaulay ring. If moreover ρ\rho is injective, one has ht(aB)=ht(a)\mathrm{ht}(aB) = \mathrm{ht}(a) for every ideal aa of AA, and ht(b)=ht(ρ−1(b))\mathrm{ht}(b) = \mathrm{ht}(\rho^{-1}(b)) for every ideal bb of BB.

The first assertion results from Prop. 8. Suppose ρ\rho injective. Let aa be an ideal of AA. We have ht(a)=profA(a;B)\mathrm{ht}(a) = \mathrm{prof}_A(a; B) since the AA-module BB is Macaulay, with support equal to Spec(A)\mathrm{Spec}(A) (No. 1, corollary to Prop. 1), ht(aB)=profB(aB;B)\mathrm{ht}(aB) = \mathrm{prof}_B(aB; B) (loc. cit.) and profA(a;B)=profB(aB;B)\mathrm{prof}_A(a; B) = \mathrm{prof}_B(aB; B) (§1§ 1, No. 3, Prop. 4), whence ht(aB)=ht(a)\mathrm{ht}(aB) = \mathrm{ht}(a). Let bb be an ideal of BB. From the preceding, we have ht(ρ−1(b))=ht(ρ−1(b)B)\mathrm{ht}(\rho^{-1}(b)) = \mathrm{ht}(\rho^{-1}(b)B). But ρ−1(b)B\rho^{-1}(b)B is contained in bb, hence of height less than ht(b)\mathrm{ht}(b), and we have ht(b)≤ht(ρ−1(b))\mathrm{ht}(b) \leq \mathrm{ht}(\rho^{-1}(b)) by VIII, §2§ 2, No. 3, Theorem 1, b).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
