Commutative Algebra, chapter X, § 3. Profondeur et dimension homologique

Let AA be a noetherian ring, MM a finitely generated AA-module of finite projective dimension, ii an integer ≥0\geq 0, NN a finitely generated AA-module, and FF the support of the AA-module Ext⁡Ai(M,N)\operatorname{Ext}_A^i(M, N) (resp. Tor⁡iA(M,N)\operatorname{Tor}_i^A(M, N)). Then prof⁡F(A)≥i\operatorname{prof}_F(A) \geq i.

In fact, let p∈Fp \in F. We have Ext⁡Ai(Mp,Np)≠0\operatorname{Ext}_A^i(M_p, N_p) \neq 0 (resp. Tor⁡iA(Mp,Np)≠0\operatorname{Tor}_i^A(M_p, N_p) \neq 0) by prop. 2 of No. 2, hence i≤dpAp(Mp)≤dpA(M)<+∞i \leq dp_{A_p}(M_p) \leq dp_A(M) < +\infty (No. 2, prop. 3). Theorem 1 implies prof⁡(Ap)≥i\operatorname{prof}(A_p) \geq i. Consequently (§1§ 1, No. 5, prop. 8)

prof⁡F(A)=inf⁡p∈Fprof⁡(Ap)≥i. \operatorname{prof}_F(A) = \inf_{p \in F} \operatorname{prof}(A_p) \geq i .

With the terminology of §1§ 1, No. 5, remark 4, the conclusion of cor. 3 means that the modules Ext⁡Ai(M,N)\operatorname{Ext}_A^i(M, N) and Tor⁡iA(M,N)\operatorname{Tor}_i^A(M, N) are of grade ≥i\geq i. It implies that the codimension of their support in Spec⁡(A)\operatorname{Spec}(A) is ≥i\geq i (§1§ 1, No. 7, prop. 12).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
