Algebra, chapter IX, § 7. Formes hermitiennes et corps ordonnés

Let KK be a maximal ordered field, LL a simple algebra of finite rank over KK. If (s,t)(s, t) is the signature of the symmetric bilinear form (x,y)→Tr⁡L/K(xy)(x, y) \to \operatorname{Tr}_{L/K}(xy) on LL, now prove that one has: s−t=ms - t = m if LL is isomorphic to a matrix algebra of order mm over KK; s−t=0s - t = 0 if LL is isomorphic to a matrix algebra over the field K(i)K(i); s−t=−2ms - t = -2m if LL is isomorphic to a matrix algebra of order mm over the quaternion field over KK.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
