Algebra, chapter X, § 3. Résolutions

Suppose that the ring AA is principal; let MM be an AA-module and (xi)i∈I(x_i)_{i\in I} a generating family of MM. Denote by L0L_0 the free module A(I)A^{(I)}, by (ei)(e_i) its canonical basis, and define p:L0→Mp:L_0\to M by p(ei)=xip(e_i)=x_i. The morphism pp is surjective and its kernel L1L_1 is a free AA-module by VII, § 3, Corollary 2 to Theorem 1; hence the exact sequence

0⟶L1⟶L0→pM⟶0 0\longrightarrow L_1\longrightarrow L_0\xrightarrow{p}M\longrightarrow0

is a free resolution of MM of length 1. If II is finite, L0L_0 and L1L_1 are of finite type.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
