Algebra, chapter X, § 9. Complexes de Koszul

Suppose that the modules M/(x1M+⋯+xi−1M)M/(x_1M+\cdots+x_{i-1}M) are separated for the x\mathfrak{x}-adic topology (1≤i≤n)(1\leq i\leq n) ; let p be an integer between 11 and nn. In order that the sequence x\mathfrak{x} be completely secant for MM, it is necessary and sufficient that the sequence (x1,…,xp)(x_1,\ldots,x_p) be completely secant for MM and that the sequence (xp+1,…,xn)(x_{p+1},\ldots,x_n) be completely secant for M/(x1M+⋯+xpM)M/(x_1M+\cdots+x_pM).

Indeed the corollary is evident if in the statement one replaces “completely secant sequences” by “regular sequences”; but the two notions coincide here by the theorem.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
