General Topology, chapter IX, Appendix 1. Espaces de Lindelöf

Every compact souslinian space is metrizable.

Let XX be a compact souslinian space, II the interval [0,1][0, 1] of R\mathbf{R}, HH the set of continuous mappings of XX into II. Since XX is completely regular, HH separates the points of XX, and cor. 1 implies the existence of a sequence (fn)(f_n) of elements of HH which separates the points of XX. But then the mapping x↦(fn(x))n∈Nx \mapsto (f_n(x))_{n \in \mathbf{N}} of XX into INI^\mathbf{N}, continuous and injective, is a homeomorphism of the compact space XX onto a subspace of INI^\mathbf{N}; this proves that XX is metrizable.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
