Let be a noetherian ring. Let be a bounded injective -complex, whose homology is of finite type; for every -complex , denote by the complex .
a) Prove that the following conditions are equivalent:
(i) for every finitely generated -module , the canonical morphism of complexes (No. 5) is a homology isomorphism ; (ii) for every bounded -complex whose homology is of finite type, the morphism (loc. cit.) is a homology isomorphism ; (iii) the canonical morphism is a homology isomorphism.
(Adapt the proof of Theorem 1.)
The complex is said to be dualizing if it is bounded, injective, if is of finite type and if it satisfies the equivalent conditions above.
b) If admits a dualizing module , every finite length injective resolution of defines a dualizing complex (loc. cit.).
c) Let be an -algebra which is a finitely generated -module, a dualizing complex of -modules; prove that the complex of -modules is dualizing. Thus every quotient ring of a Gorenstein ring of finite dimension admits a dualizing complex.
d) Let be a bounded injective -complex. For to be dualizing, it is necessary and sufficient that the complex of -modules be dualizing for every maximal ideal of .
e) Let be a dualizing -complex, a projective -module of rank 1, an integer. The complex is dualizing.
f) Let be bounded injective -complexes, whose homology is of finite type, and let be a homology isomorphism; for to be dualizing it is necessary and sufficient that be so.
