Commutative Algebra, III, 232

Let AA be a graded commutative ring of type Z\mathbf{Z} such that An=0A_n = 0 for n<0n < 0. For all n≥0n \geq 0, let A[n]A_{[n]} denote the graded ideal ⨁m≥nAm\bigoplus_{m \geq n} A_m of AA; the AA-algebra Ah=⨁n≥0A[n]A^h = \bigoplus_{n \geq 0} A_{[n]} is a ring graded by the A[n]=AnhA_{[n]} = A_n^h; for all f∈A,(d>0)f \in A, (d > 0), let fhf^h denote the element of AhA^h whose component are zero except for that of degree dd, which is equal to ff.

(a) Show that, iff ∈Ad\in A_d, where d>0d > 0, the ring A(fh)hA_{(f^h)}^h is isomorphic to (Af)≥(A_f)^{\geq} (notation of Exercise 1).

(b) For AhA^h to be a finitely generated AA-algebra, it is necessary and sufficient that AA be a finitely generated A(f)A_{(f)}-algebra.

(c) In order that An+1h=A1hAnhA_{n+1}^h = A_1^h A_n^h (resp. Anh=(A1h)nA_n^h = (A_1^h)^n) for n≥n0n \geq n_0, it is necessary and sufficient that An+1=A1AnA_{n+1} = A_1 A_n (resp. An=(A1)nA_n = (A_1)^n) for n≥n0n \geq n_0.
