Commutative Algebra, III, 233

Let KK be a field, BB the polynomial ring K[X,Y]K[X, Y] with the graduation defined by the total degree, CC the graded subring of BB generated by XX and Y2Y^2 and aa the graded ideal of CC generated by Y4Y^4. Show that, in the graded ring A=C/aA = C/a, An+1=A1AnA_{n+1} = A_1 A_n for n≥2n \geq 2 but An≠(A1)nA_n \neq (A_1)^n for n≥6n \geq 6.
