Let A be the ring Zp\mathbf{Z}_p of p-adic integers (pp prime) with the p-adic topology with which it is a complete Zariski ring. Let E be the A-module A(N)A^{(\mathbf{N})} with the p-adic topology. (a) Show that the completion E^\hat{E} of E is identified with the submodule of ANA^{\mathbf{N}} consisting of the sequences (an)n∈N(a_n)_{n \in \mathbf{N}} of elements of A such that lim⁡n→∞an=0\lim_{n \to \infty} a_n = 0. (b) Let ene_n be the n-th vector of the canonical basis of E. Consider in E the submodule F generated by the vectors e2n−1e_{2n-1} and the submodule G generated by the vectors p2ne2n−e2n−1 (n≥1)p^{2n}e_{2n} - e_{2n-1} \ (n \geq 1). Show that the topologies induced on F and G by the p-adic topology on E are the p-adic topologies on F and G but that, in E^\hat{E},

F+G‾≠F‾+G‾. \overline{F + G} \neq \overline{F} + \overline{G}.
(c) In E^\hat{E}, let ar=∑n=0∞pner+2 (r≥0)a_r = \sum_{n=0}^{\infty} p^n e_{r+2} \ (r \geq 0); let H be the submodule of E^\hat{E} generated by the a,(r≥0)a, (r \geq 0). Show that on HH the topology induced by the pp-adic topology on E^\hat{E} is the pp-adic topology on HH but that E∩H≠E‾∩H‾E \cap H \neq \overline{E} \cap \overline{H}.

(d) Let LL be the submodule of EE generated by the pnenp^n e_n; show that on LL the topology induced by the pp-adic topology on EE is distinct from the pp-adic topology on LL.
