Exercise 20, § 3

Commutative Algebra, III, 251

Let AA be a commutative ring and mm an ideal of AA; let AA be given the mm-adic topology. Let BB be a commutative topological AA-algebra (§\S 2, Exercise 28); suppose that BB is a Zariski ring; let nn be a defining ideal of BB. Show that, if MM is a finitely generated AA-module with the mm-adic topology, then on the BB-module B⊗AMB \otimes_A M the tensor product of the topology on BB and the mm-adic topology on MM is the nn-adic topology; then the completion tensor product (B⊗AM)∧(B \otimes_A M)^{\wedge} is isomorphic to B^⊗AM\hat{B} \otimes_A M.
