Exercise 3, § 1

Commutative Algebra, IV, 286

Let MM be an AA-module and NN a submodule of MM. Show that every prime ideal p∈Ass⁡(M/N)p \in \operatorname{Ass}(M/N) which does not contain Ann⁡(N)\operatorname{Ann}(N) is associated with MM. Give an example of an ideal pp belonging to Ass⁡(M/N)\operatorname{Ass}(M/N) but not to Ass⁡(M)\operatorname{Ass}(M) (take AA to be an integral domain, M=AM = A).
