Commutative Algebra, V, 363

Define an increasing sequence of algebraic number fields K0=Q,K1,…,Kn,…K_0 = \mathbf{Q}, K_1, \ldots, K_n, \ldots such that, if AnA_n denotes the integral closure of Z\mathbf{Z} in KnK_n, pp a prime number ≠2\neq 2, KnK_n is a quadratic extension of Kn−1K_{n-1} and there exists in AnA_n a prime ideal pnp_n lying above (p)(p) such that there are in An+1A_{n+1} two distinct prime ideals pn+1,pn′p_{n+1}, p'_n, lying above pnp_n (observe that, in a finite field of characteristic ≠2\neq 2, there are always elements which are not squares). Let KK be the union of the KnK_n and A′A' the integral closure of Z\mathbf{Z} in KK; show that there exists an infinity of (maximal) ideals of A′A' lying above the maximal ideal (p)(p) of Z\mathbf{Z}.
