Exercise 3, § 7

Commutative Algebra, VI, 460

Let Ai (1≤i≤n)A_i \ (1 \leq i \leq n) be pairwise independent valuation rings of a field KK and let A=⋂iAiA = \bigcap_i A_i. For all ii, let aia_i be an ideal ≠0\neq 0 of AA, and write a=⋂iai;a = \bigcap_i a_i;

show that, for all i,ai=Aiai, a_i = A_i a. Conversely, if bb is an ideal ≠0\neq 0 of AA and bi=Aibb_i = A_i b, then b=⋂ibib = \bigcap_i b_i (use Theorem 1 of no. 2).
