Exercise 4, § 1

Algebra, V, p. 146

Let GG be a commutative group, written additively, and let pp be a prime number. Denote by G[1p]G \left[ \frac{1}{p} \right] the commutative group G⊗ZZ[1p]G \otimes_{\mathbf{Z}} \mathbf{Z} \left[ \frac{1}{p} \right]. Show that if KK is a field of characteristic pp, then the perfect closure of the group algebra K[G]K[G] is the group algebra Kp−∞[G[1p]]K^{p^{-\infty}} \left[ G \left[ \frac{1}{p} \right] \right].
