Algebra, V, p. 176

Let KK be a field of characteristic p>0p > 0, EE a separable extension of KK and BB ap-basis of EE over K(Ep)K(E^p). a) Show that BB is algebraically free over KK (consider an algebraic relation of least degree between the elements of BB and put the degrees of the variables which occur in the form kp+hkp + h with 0≤h≤p−10 \leq h \leq p - 1). Deduce that if tr.deg⁡KE<+∞\operatorname{tr. deg}_K E < +\infty, then the degree of imperfection of EE over KK is at most equal to tr.deg⁡KE\operatorname{tr. deg}_K E. b) Show that EE is separable and relatively perfect over K(B)K(B).
