Algebra, V, p. 181

Let KK be a field and E,FE, F two extensions of KK. a) Suppose that KK is relatively algebraically closed in FF. Show that if (L,u,v)(L, u, v), (L′,u′,v′)(L', u', v') are two composite extensions of EE and FF such that u(E)u(E) and v(F)v(F) (resp u′(E)u'(E) and v′(F)v'(F)) are algebraically disjoint over KK, then these two composite extensions are isomorphic. (Consider first the case where EE is a pure transcendental extension of KK; then use Ex. 2, a), as well as Ex. 6, b) of V, p. 154) b) Let Es,FsE_s, F_s be the relative separable closures of KK in EE and FF respectively. Suppose that all the composite extensions of EE, and FsF_s are isomorphic. Show that if (L,u,v)(L, u, v) and (L′,u′,v′)(L', u', v') are two composite extensions of EE and FF such that u(E)u(E) and v(F)v(F) (resp. u′(E)u'(E) and v′(F)v'(F)) are algebraically disjoint over KK, then these two composite extensions are isomorphic (use a) and Ex. 11 of V, p. 173).
