Algebra, VIII, p. 40

Denote by A (resp. a\mathfrak{a}) the set of rational fractions of the form P/(X2+1)nP/(X^2+ 1)^n, where nn is an integer ⩾0\geqslant 0 and P∈Q[X]P\in \mathbf{Q}[X] is a polynomial of degree ⩽2n\leqslant 2n (resp. ⩽2n−1\leqslant 2n-1). a) Prove that A is a subring of the field Q(X)\mathbf{Q}(X) and that a\mathfrak{a} is an ideal of the ring A. b) The A-modules a⊕a\mathfrak{a}\oplus \mathfrak{a} and A⊕AA\oplus A are isomorphic. The A-module a\mathfrak{a} is projective and finitely generated but is not isomorphic to A.

c) There exists a quadratic extension K of the field Q\mathbf{Q} such that the A(K)A_{(K)}-modules a(K)\mathfrak{a}_{(K)} and A(K)A_{(K)} are isomorphic.
