Topological Vector Spaces, III, p. 41

Let (Eα)α∈A(E_\alpha)_{\alpha \in A} be a family of locally convex spaces, EE a vector space (over the same field of scalars as the EαE_\alpha), and for each α∈A\alpha \in A, let hαh_\alpha be a linear mapping from EαE_\alpha into EE. The space EE is assigned the finest locally convex topology for which the hαh_\alpha are continuous (II, p. 27). For every α∈A\alpha \in A, let Sα\mathfrak{S}_\alpha be a family of bounded subsets of EαE_\alpha, and let S\mathfrak{S} be the union of the families hα(Sα)h_\alpha(\mathfrak{S}_\alpha) of bounded subsets of EE. Under these conditions, show that, for every locally convex space FF, the S\mathfrak{S}-topology on L(E;F)\mathscr{L}(E; F) is the coarsest topology for which the linear mappings u↦u∘hαu \mapsto u \circ h_\alpha from L(E;F)\mathscr{L}(E; F) into LSα(Eα;F)\mathscr{L}_{\mathfrak{S}_\alpha}(E_\alpha; F) are continuous. In particular, if EE is the topological direct sum (II, p. 29, def. 2) of the family (Eα)α∈A(E_\alpha)_{\alpha \in A} (each EαE_\alpha being identified with a subspace of EE), then the product space ∏α∈ALSα(Eα;F)\prod_{\alpha \in A} \mathscr{L}_{\mathfrak{S}_\alpha}(E_\alpha; F) is canonically isomorphic to the space LS(E;F)\mathscr{L}_{\mathfrak{S}}(E; F), where S\mathfrak{S} is the union of the Sα\mathfrak{S}_\alpha in B(E)\mathfrak{B}(E).
