Topological Vector Spaces, IV, p. 61

Let EE be an inductive limit space of a sequence (Ep)(E_p) of locally convex metrizable spaces, the canonical mappings Ep→EE_p \to E being injective and let EE be the union of the images of the EpE_p. Show that the strong dual Eb′E'_b of EE is exhaustible (III, p. 49, exerc. 1). (Let (Ujp)(U_j^p) be a decreasing fundamental system of closed convex and balanced neighbourhoods of 00 in EpE_p; consider the finite intersections of the polar sets (Ujp)∘(U_j^p)^{\circ} in E′E'; use the fact that for every increasing sequence (mj)j≥1(m_j)_{j \geq 1} the intersection ⋂j=1∞(Umjj)∘\bigcap_{j=1}^\infty (U_{m_j}^j)^{\circ} is the polar of a neighbourhood of 00 in EE, and that Eb′E'_b is complete.)
