Exercise 3, § 6

Integration, V, p. 108

Bourbaki marks this one as harder than the rest.

Let T be a noncompact locally compact space, μ\mu a positive measure on T, and G\mathscr{G} the group of homeomorphisms of T. Give an example showing that the mapping π↦π(μ)\pi \mapsto \pi(\mu) of G\mathscr{G} into M(T)\mathscr{M}(T) is not necessarily continuous when G\mathscr{G} is equipped with the topology of compact convergence and M(T)\mathscr{M}(T) with the vague topology (take for T the subspace of R\mathbf{R} formed by 0 and the points n and 1/n1/n (nn an integer ⩾1\geqslant 1) and for μ\mu the measure defined by μ({0})=0,μ({1/n})=1/n2,μ({n})=1\mu(\{0\}) = 0, \mu(\{1/n\}) = 1/n^2, \mu(\{n\}) = 1).
