Exercise 8, § 1

Integration, VII, p. 79

Let GG be a locally compact group, AA a dense subset of GG, α\alpha a left Haar measure on GG, and HH an α\alpha-measurable subset of GG having the following property: for every s∈As \in A, sH∩(CH)sH \cap (\mathbf{C}H) and H∩(CsH)H \cap (\mathbf{C}sH) are locally α\alpha-negligible. Show that either HH is locally α\alpha-negligible or its complement is locally α\alpha-negligible. (Show that φH⋅α\varphi_H \cdot \alpha is left invariant.)
