Exercise 2, § 2

Integration, VIII, p. 60

Let U1U_1 (resp. U2U_2) be a continuous linear representation of a locally compact group GG (resp. HH) in a locally convex space EE (resp. FF). For u∈L(E;F)u \in \mathscr{L}(E; F), x∈Gx \in G, y∈Hy \in H, set

V(x,y)⋅u=U2(y)∘u∘U1(x). V(x, y) \cdot u = U_2(y) \circ u \circ U_1(x).
Show that the mapping (x,y)↦V(x,y)(x, y) \mapsto V(x, y) is a continuous linear representation of the group G0×HG^0 \times H in the space L(E;F)\mathscr{L}(E; F) equipped with the topology of compact convergence. (Use Prop. 9 of TVS, III, §4, No. 4 and the fact that, for K compact in GG, U1(K)U_1(K) is equicontinuous.)
